Bachianas Brazileiras

Big name choreographer Domy Reiter Soffer contributed to the Libi Concert which he also Directed,  held at the Tel Aviv Museum. He set his choreographic duet to the rich and exotic Bachianas Brasileiras No.5 of Villa Lobos composed for soprano and eight cellos- not only the first and more famous section but also the happier, more hopeful-toned part in which singer the clear-voiced Shirley Hackett not only sang but also danced and took part of the whole work. The dancers were Robyn Ross and Ya'cov Vartanov of the Bat Dor Dance Company and the eight cellists were led by Emmanuel Gruber sitting on stage all in Black, Were most effective and extraordinary feats of theatre. The performance raised shouts of Pleasure from the audience. One felt maybe that's what a concert should always be where orchestra singers and dancers part take in a production as a whole.

Naturally, the eight cellist won't move from their seats during tonight's performance of Villa Lobos' Haunting Bachianas Brasileiras But thanks to choreographer Domy Reiter Soffer, no one else on the stage at the Tel Aviv Museum will be stationary.

The Two dancers were part of the performance and so the soprano singer Shirley Hackett . The whole piece was deeply emotional a journey from depression to optimism. The singer moved and danced with the dancers and all related to the cellos.

It was a kind of Theatre  integration in which real art is made of, unusual, exciting and most entertaining, a sheer genius.
