Prophetic Visions

Choreographic manifestations of the Bible in Jerusalem was the centre of the Biblical Seminar. A Creation by the Israeli choreographer  Domy Reiter Soffer's "Prophetic Visions" danced by the Bat Dor Dance Company.

The work is symbolic representation of the destiny of a nomadic people who found God through his prophets and suffered trials and tribulations from dispersal to salvation.

Dancer Reda Sheta danced the role of the prophet and so was the role of Jeannette Ordman as the wife and mother through the centuries giving the support and love to her people.

The work is visual full of choreographic and theatrical surprises that moves seamlessly from one generation to the other. At first depicting Abraham the desert father in the wilderness, leading his people and who later becomes Moses and the ever present prophet through the ages.

A colorful presentation of the symbolic Golden Calf which is the endless doubt and sin that plagues humanity through the centuries.

Then comes the Punishment leading to destruction of the people then regeneration and survival.  The wonderful scene was the anointment of the kings of Israel, the greed to power and the peril of wars which again led to destruction and dispersion.

The choreographer use of movement was quite unique exploring the different facets of folklore and oriental vocabulary to enhance the large spectrum of movement and ideas, which was most inventive and at times visually stunning. The music was composed by the choreographer using percussion, harp and strings together with ancient instruments, creating an interesting effect.

A work which was worthy of the International Seminar on the Bible in Dance.
