Romances-Israel Classical Ballet

"The Israeli Classical Ballet Company Danced Domy Reiter Soffer's ballet "Romances" music by Beethoven, at the Habimah Theatre Tel Aviv. A beautifully choreographed romantic ballet danced by the entire company and showed them at their best. A well constructed ballet full of surprises with trios and quartets as well as a moving duet danced by the principal dancer Nira Paaz and Gerry Raz who rose to the intricate and technical demands of the ballet, and so were all the company. Romances is a wonderful addition to the repertoire of the Israeli Classical Ballet and show the company at its best.

"Romances" a ballet by the choreograher Domy Reiter Soffer danced to music by Beethoven string suits by the same name. The choreography is most unusual as although it uses classical technique it has an interesting vocabulary of movements that is completely unique to Reiter Soffer's choreographical inventions. The work has a lot of surprises and beautifully choreographed moments of true theatre at its best. Although the ballet has no story line, it definitely has a romantic theme which runs through it, dances of love gained, love lost, and love conquers. I particularly loved the moving duet that reached a wonderful climax that transcended throughout the theatre and the audience. The Israel Ballet Company looked splendid and danced the ballet with gusto and technical feats that showed them at their best and the audience reacted accordingly with a thunderous applause.
